71st Republic Day of India Celebrations in Bhutan

The Embassy of India celebrated the 71st Republic Day of India on 26th January 2020 at India House in Thimphu with the participation of the Indian community in Bhutan and Bhutanese friends of India.

2. Ambassador Ms. Ruchira Kamboj unfurled the National Flag in the morning at the Flag Hoisting ceremony and inspected a Guard of Honour presented by a contingent of Indian Military Training Team (IMTRAT). She also read out excerpts of the Address to the Nation delivered by Rashtrapati Ji on the eve of Republic Day.

3. Dasho Ugyen K Namgyel, Gyalpoi Zimpon to His Majesty The King, presented a ‘khaddar’ (scarf) to the Ambassador on this occasion. Foreign Secretary Dasho Kinga Singye, Officiating Cabinet Secretary Karma Pemba and Officiating Chief of Protocol Ugyen Gonphel were also present on the occasion to represent the Royal Government of Bhutan.

4. The Republic Day celebrations were attended by the officers and other ranks of the Indian Military Training Team, Project DANTAK, Indians working in Bhutan, representatives of Indian Public Sector Units and prominent members of the local Indian community. About 300 members of the Indian community were present at the flag hoisting ceremony.

5. Consulate General of India in Phuentsholing also celebrated the 71st Republic Day by organizing a flag hoisting ceremony at Phuentsholing on 26 January 2020.
