Press Release: India@75 - Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav

                      Nationwide Quiz for School Students in Bhutan

            To launch India@75 in Bhutan, the Embassy of India, Thimphu will be hosting a nationwide Quiz in collaboration with the Ministry of Education of Bhutan and the National Broadcaster, Bhutan Broadcasting Service. Through this unique initiative, students (Classes X-XII) from 21 schools, one from each Dzongkhag (district) of Bhutan including the Royal Academy, Paro will participate in the competition.

2. There will be two rounds to the Quiz:

(i)        A Preliminary Round scheduled on 16 April 2021 and

(ii)       The Final Round on 23 April 2021.

The Preliminary Round of the India@75 will witness 21 teams comprising 2 students each wherein the participants will be quizzed on India’s achievements from 1947 onwards till date, and on the special India-Bhutan Friendship through the past 52 years. 25 questions will be posed simultaneously to all teams and the four teams scoring the highest marks will go through to the Final Round of the India @75 Quiz. The Final Round of the Quiz will be broadcast live on BBS TV2.

3. All participants of the Quiz Competition will receive attractive prizes from the Embassy of India, Thimphu at a special function to be hosted at the India House Estate.

4. The India@75 Quiz will be a keynote event organized by the Embassy of India, Thimphu as part of the celebrations of 75 years of Indian Independence in Bhutan. The Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi had launched the celebrations of India @75 on 12 March 2021 at the Sabarmati Ashram, Gandhinagar, Gujarat exactly 75 weeks ahead of the 75th year of India’s independence on 15 August 2022. On this occasion he had said that, “The Azadi Amrit Mahotsav represents the elixir of energy of independence; elixir of inspirations of the warriors of freedom struggle; elixir of new ideas and pledges; and elixir of Aatmnirbharta. Therefore, this Mahotsav is a festival of awakening of the nation; festival of fulfilling the dream of good governance; and the festival of global peace and development.”
