Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme (ITEC)
The Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme (ITEC) is a flagship capacity-building initiative of the Government of India, launched in 1964. It is administered by the Ministry of External Affairs to support partner countries through training, technical assistance, and knowledge sharing.

ITEC offers fully funded short and long-term courses for government officials, public sector employees, and professionals in several areas like IT, Cyber Technologies and Tele Communication; Accounts & Finance; Management, Leadership & Human Resource Development; Government & Public Policy; Technology & Engineering; Sciences & Healthcare; Agriculture & Rural Development; Health & Yoga; Environment, Renewable Energy & Climate Change; Media & Journalism and Project Management; to name a few.
3. Under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation program, 325 seats annually are offered to Bhutan for training at world-class training institutions covering various fields. In the last decade, more than 3,000 Bhutanese nationals have availed of various ITEC training programs in India.

III. ITEC Training Opportunities:
The Government of India offers long-term professional training opportunities to officers of the Royal Government of Bhutan at premier Indian civil service institutions, where they train alongside Indian Civil Service probationers. These programmes are conducted at leading institutions such as the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS), New Delhi; theLal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie for Administrative Officers; the National Academy of Audit and Accounts, Shimla for audit officers; the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun for forestry officers; the National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT), Nagour and the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN), Palasamudram, Andra Pradesh for revenue officers; and the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), Hyderabad for police officers, etc., sharing Bhutanese officers training experience, international best practices, enhancing professional competencies, and further strengthening close and long standing partnership between Bhutan and India.
