Press Release: Relaxation of Visa and Travel Restrictions for Foreign Tourists

     The Government of India has decided to reopen entry of international tourists to visit India with effect from 15 October 2021. Initially, the foreign tourists are required to visit India through chartered flights by way of ‘group tourism’. Accordingly, e-Tourist Visa/regular Tourist Visa by Indian Missions/Posts abroad will be issued to international travellers for the purpose of tourism.

2.   Further, all individual foreign nationals intending to travel to India for tourism purpose through Vande Bharat Mission, Air Bubble Scheme or any scheduled /non-scheduled commercial flights as permitted by the Ministry of Civil Aviation will be allowed to enter India w.e.f 15 November 2021.

3.   Travel of all foreign nationals will subject to protocols and norms relating to COVID-19 as notified by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare from time to time. Thus, travel of foreign nationals to India for all purposes including tourism, medical etc. is now open.
