India House Golf Tournament 2025

 

        The India House Golf Tournament 2025, dedicated to the seventieth birth anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, was held from 8-16 November 2025 at India House Eco Park, Embassy of India. The Junior and Ladies segments of the tournament were held on 8 and 9 November 2025 respectively, while the Men’s tournament was held from 10-16 November 2025. This year, the tournament saw participation of 267 golfers, making it the biggest India House Golf Tournament till date. The youngest golfer of the tournament was 6 years old, whereas the oldest golfer was 78 years old.

2. Today, the tournament’s prize distribution ceremony was held at India House. His Excellency Dasho Tshering Tobgay, the Prime Minister of Bhutan was the chief guest. Lyonpo D.N. Dhungyel, Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Royal Government of Bhutan; Lyonpo Dr. Tandin Dorji, Chairperson, Royal Privy Council; and Lt. Gen. Batoo Tshering, Chief Operations Officer, Royal Bhutan Army also attended.

3. The Overall Champion of the Tournament was Maj. Gen. Dorji Rinchen, who won a Tata Punch E-Vehicle as prize. The Overall Gross Champion was Mr. Nim Dorji Tamang, who won a Mahindra XUV 3XO as prize. The prize for best lady golfer went to Ms. Dechen Dema, who won an iPhone 17 and two Drukair round trip flight tickets to India. In the junior category, the competition was won by Mr. Jigar Singh (Nett Winner (Boys A)), Ms. Tashi Yangzom (Nett Winner (Girls A)), Mr. Sergyel Tamang (Nett Winner (Boys B)) and Ms. Rinzin Dema Tamang (Nett Winner (Girls B)). Prizes amounting to more than Nu. 4 million were awarded to the winners of the India House Golf Tournament 2025.

4. Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony, Ambassador appreciated the enthusiastic response to the India House Golf Tournament and rising interest in golf among the local community. He thanked His Majesty The King of Bhutan, His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, President of Bhutan Olympic Committee and the Prime Minister for support to golf as a sport and to the India House Golf Tournament. He underscored the role of India House Eco Park in furthering the sports ties between the two countries and augmenting the people-to-people ties which lies at the heart of the special friendship between India and Bhutan. He also thanked the sponsors for their support to the tournament.

5. India and Bhutan cooperate actively for the development of sports infrastructure in various parts of Bhutan- including football astroturfs, volleyball, tennis courts, cricket facilities and multi-sports halls across various Dzongkhags. Government of India is also working with Bhutan Olympic Committee to expand bilateral sporting linkages to include athlete exchange programmes, training of trainers, sports science programmes, training of Bhutanese athletes etc.

6. The India House Golf Tournament is held annually since 1995 to mark the birth anniversary celebrations of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. It witnesses participation of eminent members of golfing community in Bhutan and celebrates the close, enduring friendship between India and Bhutan.
