Application open for Ambassador’s Scholarship 2026-2027
The Embassy of India invites applications for the Ambassador’s Scholarship for Bhutanese students pursuing school/ college/ vocational education or Buddhist studies in India for the academic year 2026-2027. The last date of submission of applications for the Ambassador’s scholarship is 14 October 2026
2 (i). Applications for the Ambassador’s Scholarship from students pursuing college/vocational education/Buddhist studies should be submitted online at https://www.indembthimphu.gov.in/scholarship_2026-2027.
(ii) Applications for the Ambassador’s Scholarship from School students can be submitted online at https://www.indembthimphu.gov.in/scholarship_schoolstudent_2026-27.
3. Ambassador’s scholarship provides a one-time, lump-sum award to those already studying in India. The amount awarded under the Ambassador's Scholarship is determined on the basis of course of study, merit, and other relevant factors. Student have to apply every year during their course of study.
4. Bhutanese students who are already receiving any scholarship from the Government of India or the Royal Government of Bhutan such as the India Bhutan Friendship Scholarship, Nehru Wangchuck Scholarship, ICCR Scholarship, Nalanda University Scholarship, GOI Undergraduate Scholarship (coordinated by Royal Civil Service Commission, RGoB) would not be eligible to apply for Ambassador’s Scholarship.
5. All applicants are requested to fill up the online application form, upload correct documents and ensure that their particulars including name, date of birth, College ID/ Registration No., CID No. are correct. Submission of incorrect documents renders the application ineligible for award of scholarship. The bank account in case of college/vocational education/ Buddhist studies students should be held in a Bhutanese/ Indian Bank, and should be in the name of the applicant and in case of school students, in the name of applicant/guardian.
6. Please note that applicants already passed out of College/ University or taking repeat examinations are not eligible to apply.
