Guidelines (Terms & Conditions) of a photography competition launched by the Embassy of India and Bhutan Echoes

PHOTO STORY CONTEST

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Tell the story of India and Bhutan friendship through a digital photograph.

1.Directions

1. Take a picture that captures and celebrates the spirit of India and Bhutan’s friendship.

2. The photograph must be submitted to cul.thimphu@mea.gov.in on or before January 5, 2021, 11:59 PM with the following details:

Age

Profession (if applicable)

College / School / Company (if applicable)

Dzongkhag

2. Eligibility

1. Only nonprofessional photographers can compete. (We define nonprofessional photographers as those who do not make a living off of their photography skills.)

2. Must be a citizen of Bhutan or a Citizen of India (residing in Bhutan).

3. Images that have won prizes in prior competitions, or have been used for commercial purposes and/or been published will not be eligible.

4. There is no entry fee.

3.Guidelines

1. Only one entry is allowed per photographer.

2. The participants must submit their photograph digitally as instructed below. Hard copies cannot be accepted.

3. Participants may submit colour and/or black and white photographs taken up to three years before the start of the competition ( December, 2020 ).

4. The photograph must be submitted in JPEG format and at least 1600 pixels wide for a horizontal image or 1600 pixels tall for a vertical image.

5. It can be in Landscape/Portrait mode.

6. All submitted images are non-returnable. The file name for each image should be clearly labeled with the participant’s name. E.g. Dorji.jpg

7. Photographs that have been digitally altered beyond standard optimization (removal of dust, cropping, reasonable adjustments to exposure, color and contrast, etc.) will be disqualified.

8. No entries using advertising or offensive images, or that violate any laws are allowed. The organizers will disqualify from the competition any photos it deems inappropriate.

9. By submitting an image for the competition, the participant will be regarded as having accepted and agreed to be bound by the guidelines of the competition.

10. By submitting an image for the competition, the participant will also be regarded as having granted the organizers the full copy-right to use the submitted image in print broadcast and /or electronic media without any fee payment.

4.Judging and Results

1. Any photograph received after January 5th, 2021, 11:59 PM will not be considered for the competition.

2. The images will be judged by a panel of judges and their decision is final.

3. Images will be judged on originality, concept, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit.

4. The winners of the competition will be informed over the phone.

5.Prizes

1. 4 winning entries will win a smartphone each.

2. Prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable for cash or in kind.
