India-Bhutan Friendship Scholarships at IIT, Kanpur

India-Bhutan Friendship Scholarships at IIT, Kanpur

Embassy of India, Thimphu is delighted to announce that three new India-Bhutan Friendship Scholarships were introduced in February 2020 for Bhutanese youth to pursue M. Tech programmes at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. These new scholarships were introduced by the Prime Minister of India on the occasion of the 40th birth anniversary celebrations of His Majesty the King of Bhutan on 21 February 2020.

The India-Bhutan Friendship Scholarship is a unique gesture on the part of the Government of India and IIT, Kanpur that will pave the way for Bhutanese students to receive the best education in engineering and technology from one of the top-ranked higher education institutions across the globe. Srijana Gajmer and Sonam Tshering are the first recipients of the India Bhutan Friendship Scholarship.

Every year, Bhutanese students may apply for admission to M. Tech programmes at IIT, Kanpur in March-April through the Embassy of India, Thimphu in this regard.
